The Dogberry Collections Rough Hewn Poplar Mantel is a solid American West poplar fireplace mantel shelf with a hand-textured, adze-hewn front face. Available in 36"-72" widths, six finish options, and two depth profiles - it brings authentic reclaimed wood character without salvage-wood inconsistency.
The Rough Hewn Poplar Mantel starts with the same solid American West poplar as our Farmhouse shelf, then our craftsmen run an adze across the face to carve a hand-hewn surface texture - the same technique used in traditional timber framing. The result is a mantel shelf that reads as reclaimed or antique without the warping, checking, or unknown history of actual salvage wood. It pairs naturally with brick surrounds, shiplap, board-and-batten, and exposed-beam ceilings.

For wee pie and high quality. Easy to install with included instructions
We bought these shelves to use with our coffee bar, and they don’t disappoint! They look great and are super durable!
Absolutely love this mantle for my new sunroom. It was easy to install and has that rustic feel I wanted!
Easy to install and beautiful
Again just as described and was easy to install
Great speedy service. Over all peace of mind with the hold process. So convenient..
Not realistic the realistic wood look that we were hoping but still looks nice and is the perfect size for seasonal decor.
Beautiful!
No mounting hardware or installation instructions received. I purchased the Aged Oak and it was very red compared to the brown look in the advertised pictures. I had to sand to remove the existing stain to restain because it was way too red. Picture is Aged Oak as received.
Love this mantle !! The photos don’t show how beautiful it is. The color is slightly darker . Which I was very happy with. I actually bought a second one to cut and make matching shelves.
Absolutely love! Beautiful, easy to install
Online this looks like a reclaimed beam...in person it has a visible pattern, not rustic at all like picture portrays. It is well built, which is why I gave it 2 stars, however it looks nothing like pictured. I would have been charged over $30 to return it, so I roughed it up myself and stained it a different color. I was excited about this mantel, but it did NOT match the online description/pictures.
I love it!

The mantel worked perfectly. We tiled the fireplace wall and this completes the look. The shelf weight capacity was the deciding factor for selecting this piece. Highly recommend
Looks like real wood. Gorgeous and elegant.
We love it! It is beautiful and was easy to install. Definitely, highly recommend it.
Beautiful looks perfect used for mamtel
Great finish for our fireplace!
It’s everything I hoped it would be! Very durable and can hold a lot of weight when drilled into the studs. Can’t wait to decorate it!!! Picture is a chat g t p suggestion. I hope to update the review with a picture of the finished product. It feels so good to start anew after it being over a decade since anything has been changed. Very refreshing. And starting to make my Pinterest boards come true. My rotten kiddo featured :)
Well constructed and will look great on my wall.
Great material
I like the mantel itself but the color (Aged Oak) came to me very orange. Rather than return and wait for another one from somewhere else, we sanded it down and re-stained it to match our wood floors. It was a pain but we got through it. If you are looking for a more modern color, do not order Aged Oak. You are better off ordering "unfinished" and staining yourself.
This mantal is very nice. It's real wood and not cheap looking. We ordered the aged oak. The color is as shown.
Very decent quality. Just as described.
Very nice mantle, chunky and sturdy. The color was a bit more red than we liked but overall a nice piece. I comes with hardware and requires screwing in the board to wall and then the shelf to the board. Would have preferred a French cheat hanging g system
Great mantel, solid and easy to install.
I can’t even begin to say enough about how BEAUTIFUL this mantel is!!! I lived it on the website but had no idea how incredibly beautiful it is, and such amazing quality!! Thank you Wayfair!!!
Looks great. Have had it for years now. Nice upgrade.
We couldn’t be more happy with our fireplace mantle. We had a problem with the heat from our fireplace because of the artwork TV just above. The mantle has been great at deflecting the heat and protecting our TV. Plus it looks great!
Mantel looks great and is sturdy. Easy to install.
Perfect! Looks awesome, would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fireplace mantle.
Love love this mantel
It is very nice for the price compared to a solid wood mantle. I wish it was a little more random than a pattern. But very pretty!
